I woke up and my wife and I went out into the kitchen. I turned on the TV in the livingroom and saw the scene going on in NY and Washington DC. I turned to CNN and began watching. This was just after the south tower had fallen. I can remember saying to my wife "Do you know what this means?! This means war!!". I got my digital camera and took a photo of the TV screen, then I threw in an 8 hour tape and taped CNN for 8 hours beginning about 10 minutes before the North tower fell. I did the same thing on the day after 9/11, so I have two 8 hour tapes of raw CNN as-it-happened. I can remember calling into work saying I'd be a little late, and I stayed at home watching until just after the North tower fell. I drove to work numb, I couldn't believe life was going on and people were going to work. It was a very weird day, looking back on it now, I can't believe I made it through. Then the next day early in the morning, I got a call from my mom telling me a family friend had died in a plane crash that morning in Mexico, unrelated to 911, but the timing was still eerie. The day after 911 I wore my American Flag Old Navy T-shirt. It seemed to be appropriate and I got some very positive responses from it.
