Description:

My best friend Kristin Rumberger and I spent a year in Australia from the summer of 1999 until the summer of 2000. After September 11th we received over a dozen emails from friends in Australia worried about our safety and the safety of our family and friends. It was incredibly powerful to receive such words of support and love from halfway around the world. It made us feel that the humanity of the world had been attacked, not just the people of the United States.

Date of e-mail: Wed, 12 Sep 2001 03:39:28 +1000

Subject line of e-mail: hope you are safe

Body of e-mail:

meg, kristin

how much more does civilisation have to suffer, how can we ever meet and travel again safe and carefree?

i hope that you both and your families are well and safe and my prayer are with you all!
let's hope and work together towards a world where we all can sit again on a beach, feel free and secure and travel the world without fear.

take good care and god bless you all
