United They Stand / After September 11, 2001

Marilyn B. Wassmann

Charcoal drawing of American icons Terrorizing our citizens, causing more of us to die
Something quite suddenly might drop from the sky
Again repeating the horror of that day
When America changed in every way.

Our recurring nightmare of the planes hitting those towers
And another jet striking the Pentagon during those hours
A fourth plane crashed on a Pennsylvania field
Passengers on that plane would not yield
to terrorists needing to achieve their goal
They killed so many people, but not our soul!

Words fail to capture the pain
Moving forward is such a strain
Why, oh why, did they attack our land
and just what is their future plan?
