911 - Why?

Phyllis Thomas

Against the blue sky, the American flag flies high
Twin towers stand tall
Then two silver winged eagles soar
And now they stand no more

A horror became real
America watched and wept
How could this happen
Who do we blame?

We count the bodies
We mourn the loss
Life continues
The sun sets, a new day

Solders stand guard
War is declared
When will we see peace?
When will the hatred stop?

America lives on
Proud and strong
The questions remains
