Stormy Weather Report

Janet L. Meeks

White skies over Washington, D. C.
A storm threatens.
White nights prevail in Russia.
Bombs over Afghanistan,
and the nights light up in gold flame.

War is explosive.
The skies appear...unusual.
Victims remain untouched; uncounted,
secreted beneath smoking rubble.
Children are hungry, water is scarce.

Green grasshopper helicopters fly
droning, among clouds so thick.
What is the season?
How will the world be defined?
Where is that storm forecast?
